Blepharoplasty visibly rejuvenates the entire face, getting rid of age-related changes in the upper and lower eyelids and allowing you to cope with wrinkles, bags under the eyes, drooping eyelids. The results of the procedure last for decades!

Depending on the type and complexity, the entire procedure lasts from half an hour to two hours.

The most gentle, low-traumatic intervention — transconjunctival blepharoplasty, is used before the age of 40, when the skin is the most elastic and quickly recovers. The surgery is performed through the conjunctiva of the eye, without external incisions and sutures. The fat layer in the hernias is redistributed, which allows you to get rid of the effect of bags and rejuvenates the face.

Upper blepharoplasty eliminates the overhang over the eyeball by cutting away excess skin. It may also include a brow lift and correction of the movable and fixed eyelid. The incision is made along the line of the natural skin fold.

The lower one gets rid of sagging skin, swelling, hernias, laxity, age and expression lines. The incision is made under the lash line and goes 1 cm beyond the outer corner of the eye.

Classic (circular) one — is suitable for people with obvious age-related changes, large sags or bags. Combines the elements of upper and lower blepharoplasty.

The course of the surgery.

With a special marker, I put on the eyelids markings on which the incisions will be made. The symmetry of the lines is clearly controlled to ensure the aesthetic effect.

Depending on the complexity of the surgery, your physical and emotional state, the presence of allergies to drugs, the anesthesiologist will choose the optimal type and composition of anesthesia.

General anesthesia for transconjunctival and circumferential blepharoplasty. You are completely immersed in sleep, do not feel excitement and can not interfere with the surgery with unexpected reactions. Blood pressure decreases and bleeding is reduced. Modern drugs do not cause nausea and hallucinations. The surgery takes longer because of the long preparation.

Local anesthesia for blepharoplasty of the upper or lower eyelids. Pain sensitivity of the patient in the eyelid area is blocked by injection of novocaine, lidocaine or ultracaine. At the same time, the ability to open and close the eyes is preserved. Already 3 hours after the surgery, you can go home. If the patient is prone to anxiety, the local anesthetic can be supplemented with sedatives (sedatives).

Under local or general anesthesia, an incision is made according to the markings, the marked strip of skin is separated from the muscle fibers, excised and removed. The fatty tissue is redistributed. The excess fatty tissue and the strip of the circular muscle of the eye are removed. Microsurgical sutures and a sterile dressing are placed.

The eye becomes open, which significantly improves the overall perception of appearance and visibly rejuvenates the entire face.

Despite its minimally invasive nature, blepharoplasty is still a surgical intervention with certain contraindications.

Rejuvenating and modeling plastic surgery of the upper eyelids is not performed during lactation and pregnancy. Redness, swelling, itching, rash on the skin of the face are also temporary contraindications. Women are not recommended to do the surgery at the beginning of the menstrual cycle. You can not do the surgery during a cold, infectious disease, exacerbation of chronic somatic pathology.

Also, I will not be able to perform the surgery if you have:

  • high arterial pressure and hypertension;
  • glaucoma, dry eye syndrome and others;
  • inflammation of the lacrimal glands;
  • severe infectious diseases;
  • heart and vascular diseases;
  • disorders of the thyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal glands;
  • diabetes mellitus;
  • oncology;
  • malignant tumor, regardless of its location;
  • blood clotting disorders;
  • tendency to form keloid postoperative scars;
  • immunodeficiency;
  • tuberculosis.
As for any surgery, to blepharoplasty should be carefully prepared, take all the necessary tests, so that the body is ready, and recovery was as fast as possible.
BEFORE SURGERY
  • follow all my recommendations during the preparation phase, that’s the most important thing;
  • the key to the success of the surgery is your health condition and optimistic attitude;
  • do not hesitate to ask clarifying questions about the processes and stages of the surgery, which you do not understand or cause fear, it will add confidence in the successful result;
  • postpone surgery even if you have minor symptoms of acute respiratory infections until you are fully recovered;
  • smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can impair your health and affect the rehabilitation process;
  • if you are prone to bleeding or bruising, tell the surgeon and anesthesiologist;
  • one week before the surgery exclude the intake of all dietary supplements, vitamins;
  • inform in advance about taking any medications, oral contraceptives.

Pre-surgery preparation includes standard medical examination. In the case of chronic diseases, additional diagnostics may be prescribed, as well as consultation of specialized specialists (endocrinologist, cardiologist, gynecologist).

Based on these data and taking into account the level of age-related changes, I will choose the appropriate blepharoplasty method to achieve the most harmonious result.

Diagnostic examinations:
  • ECG with a cardiologist’s report;
  • fluorography or chest X-ray;
  • examination of visual acuity;
  • special examination of the optic nerve, oculomotor, eyelid tone;
  • in the presence of concomitant diseases — the conclusion of a specialized doctor about the absence of contraindications to surgical treatment.
Laboratory tests:
  • general blood test (not older than 10 days);
  • urinalysis (not older than 10 days);
  • coagulogram (ACTH, prothrombin, fibrinogen, not older than 10 days);
  • blood group, Rh factor;
  • RW (Wasserman reaction), HIV, Hepatitis B and C (HBS, HCV), (not older than 3 months);
  • biochemical blood test (AlAT, AsAT, total protein, glucose, total bilirubin, creatinine, urea, electrolytes (K, Na), (not older than 10 days).

If minor abnormalities are detected, such as in biochemistry, the surgery is still performed, but after prior medication to normalize the indicators. If there are unforeseen, temporary or other health problems, the surgery should be postponed for your safety. Please do not forget to mention any “minor” health problems you may have.

For me, your health and safety are paramount, which is why I perform the surgery only when I am 100% sure that there are no contraindications and I know your full medical history.

10 days before the scheduled date of surgery, I recommend completely exclude alcohol and 3 days — smoking cigarettes, which worsen healing and can provoke complications, as well as negatively affect the final result of the surgery.

Cosmetic procedures that aggressively affect the skin (chemical or deep peeling) are not recommended 14 days before the surgery, and 7 days before — visiting a solarium. If possible, eliminate inflammation or irritation on the face.

Also for 14 days you should temporarily suspend the use of anticoagulants (aspirin, heparin, vitamin C, cardiomagnil, thrombo-ACS, painkillers and antipyretics) and hormonal drugs, including contraception. If it is impossible to refuse any medication, be sure to inform me about it at the first consultation, so that I can give recommendations on how best to proceed in such a case: to exclude the drug, replace it or leave it as it is.

The surgery is performed on an empty stomach, so on the eve of the surgery after 8 pm nothing can be eaten! After 12 at night do not drink, even just water! From coffee and energy drinks I advise you to give up at least a couple of days before the surgery.

Menstrual cycle does not affect the surgery, I recommend my patients to plan the date of surgery on the 6th-8th day from the beginning of the cycle. If menstruation occurs earlier than expected, be sure to inform me and the anesthesiologist.

ON THE DAY OF SURGERY
  • When going to the clinic for surgery, do not forget your passport and all tests in printed form (make copies in advance if you need a second copy).
  • Do not use perfume, cosmetics and any means with a pronounced fragrance. Leave jewelry, valuables and money at home. You will definitely not need them at the surgery 😉
  • Remove everything from the nail of the forefinger on your left hand, including the false nail. This is necessary for attaching the pulse oximeter (a device to monitor blood oxygen saturation).
  • Choose comfortable clothing that you will not have to take off and put on “over your head”. Clothing with zippers or buttons is best.
  • If you have varicose veins, you will need compression stockings.
  • The evening before the surgery, you must wash your face and head properly.
  • In the morning right before the intervention — once again thoroughly wash your face.
Take care in advance how you will get home from the clinic, because you will not be able to drive after the surgery.
During the surgery, I use innovative equipment and proven effective and safe medical drugs. And to get the best results from the procedure, follow all my recommendations.

Following the recommendations of the recovery period will create optimal conditions for regeneration and accelerate tissue healing after surgery.

POST-SURGERY REHABILITATION
  • Two days after the surgery, you will need to come to the clinic to have the stitches removed and a band-aid applied to the stitch line to reduce swelling. It will need to be worn for another week, during which swelling and bruising will gradually decrease. It is recommended to sleep only on your back with an elevated headboard for the first few days. After removing the patch, you can return to work.
  • In the first days after plasty, the tissues of the correction zone are slightly inflamed. Pain sensations are insignificant and are relieved by the usual painkillers. There may be increased lacrimation or, conversely, dryness of the conjunctiva, increased sensitivity of the eyes to light, tingling, a feeling of “sand” in the eyes.
  • Depending on your condition and your susceptibility to medication, I will prescribe anti-inflammatory medications to prevent the development of infectious complications. Cold compresses may be applied to the skin to reduce swelling.
  • If you have poor eyesight, you will have to give up contact lenses and use ordinary glasses for the recovery period.
  • Try to limit the load on the eyes and provide them with maximum rest: you do not need to read, watch TV, work on the computer.
  • With increased sensitivity to bright light, I recommend staying in a room with dim lighting. At home, it is desirable to tightly draw the curtains and do not turn on bright lights. When outdoors, be sure to use sunglasses.
  • Refrain from hot baths, steam rooms or saunas until the rehabilitation period is over.
  • Take a break from sports and limit household activities. You will be able to return to full physical activity after full recovery.
  • After surgery, you can not sunbathe on the beach and visit a tanning salon, because ultraviolet light can provoke pigmentation of areas with stitches.
  • Decorative cosmetics can be used only after 2-3 weeks after surgery. Also prohibited are any facial skin care procedures. The exception is physiotherapy procedures, which I can prescribe to speed up recovery.
  • To prevent infectious processes should be regularly used eye drops with antibacterial action.
  • Complications after blepharoplasty are rare, but it is impossible to completely exclude the possibility of undesirable consequences. Healing lasts from one to five months.
  • In case of sharp pains, blood discharge, severe swelling and other unusual phenomena, you should urgently consult a doctor!
You deserve to be the best version of yourself, and my qualifications and experience guarantee a successful outcome! Just make an appointment for a free consultation, it will be the first step towards perfection.

HOW TO MAKE THE PHOTOS RIGHT

You need good quality photos for modeling (selfies are not suitable 😢, ask someone to take a picture of you with the main camera). They should be taken in good even lighting, on a solid color background and should not be blurry. Send photos only through the form below, as any messengers will compress the photos and degrade their quality.

Send photos in all the angles shown in the example below ☝ and make sure that the hair does not cover the parts of the face we are interested in.
